Although we wish we could place each and every animal that is wandering the streets or belongs to an owner that feels forced to give it up, it is not within our power to take them all in. Re-Homing an animal Although we wish we could help every animal looking for a new home, we are many times unable to take in animals from the those that are trying to find a home for an animal in need. Emerald City Pet Rescue takes in the majority of our animals from the high kill shelters when the animals are hours and even moments away from being euthanized. When we are able, Emerald City Pet Rescue will do our very best in helping all dogs in need, the homeless, the abandoned, the unwanted. However, we hope you will take some of our suggestions on how to find a new owner for a homeless pet.

Found an animal? Have you found an animal wandering the streets without tags or identification and don’t know what to do next? Here are some suggestions on how to take steps on your own to reunite a found animal with its’ owner.

Taking the animal to a local veterinarian to scan to verify if the animal is micro-chipped with any possible owner information.

This is usually offered at any veterinary facility at no charge to you.

Post up 'Found Pet' signage with limited information included about the pet, to insure that the actual owner is the one responding.

Checking on-line websites where lost pets may be posted.
